The Institute for Field Research (ifrglobal.org) is a rapidly growing, independent nonprofit organization that supports academic field research. Created by academics to support scholarly field research work, the IFR is operating under three principles: (1) Teaching through engagement with primary research; (2) Rigorous annual peer-review of each program by our Academic Board, constitute of leading scholars from universities across the world; and (3) Strong emphasis on academic & pedagogic excellence.
The IFR initially focused on archaeology. We are now expanding to other disciplines, including Geology, Paleontology and Environmental Studies. Our goal is to advocate for research-based programs in all disciplines that require field training as part of degree requirements.
Students earn large number of credit units and most of their tuition is directed towards supporting research at the field school site – creating a win/win situation. Excellence resides with the academic and pedagogic prowess of individual scholars and we carefully select only the best to work with from across the world. The result is a continuous – and verifiable – excellence in all that we do.
