The Intervale Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Burlington, Vermont. Our mission is to strengthen community food systems. Since 1988, we’ve been dedicated to improving farm viability, promoting sustainable land use and engaging our community in the food system. We’re helping to build a community food system that honors producers, values good food and enhances quality of life for Burlington and beyond!
At the Intervale Center, we believe that good food can change the world. We are transforming the food system from one that is degrading, anonymous and industrial, to one that is restorative, familiar and human-scale. We are working to foster a local food economy that is good for people and the planet.
We manage 350 acres of land for sustainable agriculture, conservation and recreation in the heart of Burlington. We also work statewide to help farmers strengthen their businesses; protect Vermont’s water quality by planting 20,000 native trees across the state each year; and ensure that anyone who wants delicious, fresh local food can access it.
