I loved that I was working at something that was going to help in building my experience. I got the opportunity to instruct high school students to complete a project about their communities. As a future high school teacher I really enjoyed myself.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have had some more say on what the project was but I think I managed the task I was given very well. I was able to instruct the students to complete their part in the project and they did so in a timely manner while also enjoying themselves in the summer.
Advice
I would say that it does get difficult to deal with a big group of teenagers, especially when you're not too far in age with them. It was a patience tester for sure but nothing I wasn't able to get through. I'm glad I got challenged a bit during this work experience because I got a chance to experience these issues before getting to the actual career of being a teacher. I also got to try some strategies I've learned from respected teachers of mine and ones that I would like to implement myself eventually.
