What I liked

My internship with IRF Secretariat has allowed me to develop my team-oriented skills without taking away from the independence of the position. Being able to maintain and be responsible for my own schedule allowed for individual development as I became my own project manager, making sure I produced what was necessary on time, without constant oversight from others. Working with government partners, NGO partners, and civil society also allowed for development of professional communication, note-taking, and presentation. The intimacy of the internship team was an added bonus that I felt greatly added to my experience.

Multi-Faith Letter Associate

What I liked

During my internship at the IRF Roundtable, I was appointed as the multi-faith letter associate and the main circulator of these petitions to our partner organizations. It was a fantastic experience with an even greater team to work with to spread the mission of the organization. IRF Roundtable works with you and your skills to make sure you are fully present in the team and set you up with networking opportunities and career growth. If anyone is interested in foreign issues while working for an NGO, IRF is the place you need to do that and gain real hands on experience!

What I wish was different

It's important to remember that this internship is still available as fully remote. However, if you reside in the DMV area there are special opportunities available for you to attend in-person events!

Advice

Make sure you a ready to be a part of a team! This internship allows you to work with your fellow associates and have some team-building projects and cross-communication amongst the whole organization!

Projects Associate

What I liked

I have had a wonderful time working with the IRF Secretariat. I was able to attend weekly Roundtable meetings while working as a Projects Associate, which helped me improve my note-taking skills. The IRF Summit was a wonderful and educational experience that helped me develop both my event planning and customer service skills. Working with this team has been amazing, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the international religious freedom field!
