The main thing I like about working at this company is that my role dives deep into the aspects of marketing such as social media scheduling, video editing, graphic design, and communicating in group meetings about upcoming projects. Months prior to landing the position, I wanted to learn more about video editing and to land a marketing position since I only had skills mainly in creating social media content, web design, graphic design. This position was able to teach me aspects about video editing and marketing I never knew about. One of main components of marketing I’m enjoying to learn is using HubSpot. I get to create email content, landing pages and other similar marketing related content which I never done before and it is great to know.
What I wish was different
One thing I wish was different is that due to many people in the company working remotely (not because of COVID but due to them working in different states) it is hard to communicate sometimes since it could be difficult to know when someone who works remotely is busy on a project. They could be on a call and even with communicating through email or messaging, you can’t see in person if they are busy.
Advice
One advice I would share about this experience is to share helpful tips to your mentors too. For example, I was editing a video and the application we used to edit and download a video took a long time to download one video (usually took 40 minutes to download a ten minute video). I did my research on the applications I could possibly use to make downloading the videos quicker. I found a great application to do it and shared my research with my mentors. One of them seemed happy to hear about it and I felt great knowing I was able to help my mentors just like how they help teach me things.
