I have learned a ton of variety within manufacturing through my internship at Itron. Everything from line layouts and cycle times to process improvements and more.
What I wish was different
If I was to pick one thing to improve, I would say more support when first starting the job would be necessary. I was thrown into the role without a lot of aid and support.
Advice
Try to involve yourself in as much as possible, even if it's something you don't think you'll enjoy.

Firmware Architecture Intern
April 2019 • Waseca, MN
What I liked
I really like the team that I work with at Itron. They are are a global company and Waseca, MN works primarily on the battery powered device side of things.
What I wish was different
Only thing that I wish that was different was to have more of a group orientation when I was just starting. I was primarily required to watch a bunch of old videos about ESD and stuff I already learned about in Physics. It would have been more benficial to do trainings about the products Itron produces.
Advice
It is important to network with others even if they are not in your department. Itron has a second family vibe to it and everyone seems to know each other pretty well.
