Juvenile Justice Commission

Social Worker Intern

September 2019 • Bordentown, NJ

What I liked

Learning about a new population. In conjunction with another class, I was able to formulate a list of questions to ask my clients. What I liked the most was getting to know the real-life experiences of these youth, and those questions helped me build rapport and hone my active listening skills.

What I wish was different

What I liked

It was eye opening experience in the career field. Learned about what kind of clients I will be dealing with in the future. Very informative and helped developing skills needed for the career.

What I wish was different

The time I went to internship and it being a paid internship would have helped

Advice

You will learn a lot just by being there, but if it is a good internship you will be very involved like I am. You will learn and develop good skills
