Sustainability and Business Innovation Intern

What I liked

I enjoyed the work environment and felt as if I had a productive relationship with my boss and coworkers. I had a diverse variety of tasks, which kept me interested in my work and allowed me to get experience in various areas. I was able to learn a lot about business sustainability and current food industry sustainability practices; additionally, I got exposure to company certifications that are becoming increasingly relevant. I felt as if I was able to make a difference in the company, and I appreciated the startup environment. There were reasonable expectations for working hours, and I was always able to take a day off if I wasn't feeling my best.

What I wish was different

Nothing! I think this is a great experience for people interested in sustainability and who want to learn more about it.

Advice

Make sure you have an open mind and a willingness to learn new things. Even if you have a comprehensive understanding of sustainability, there is always more to learn! Realize that it may take a bit before you completely understand the company's sustainability goals and that you will have time to do meaningful work related to them.

Graphic Designer Intern

What I liked

I had the pleasure to work for KakaoZon and its parent company, Orion Business Consulting, as a graphic design intern in the summer of 2020. While I was there, the company’s owner, Francisco, expertly guided me through the fundamentals of digital marketing and strategy. Senior graphic designer, Ana, helped me become a better designer with her thoughtful directing. My responsibilities included conceptualizing, designing, and scheduling social media campaigns, creating supporting graphics, product photography, and copywriting. I greatly appreciated the flexibility in hours and the convenience of working partially remotely. Another fantastic perk was getting to eat all the delicious product samples after photographing them!

What I wish was different

I was happy with all aspects of my internship.

Advice

Be inspired and pitch unique and interesting ideas during meetings!

Backend System Analyst Intern

What I liked

This was my most impressive experience when I worked at KakaoZon chocolate. I worked as a backend system analyst to help build the backend ecosystem including research, evaluate, select, deploy and maintain Zoho system. Thanks my manager Francisco who gave me flexibility and guidance to finish this great project. We had cross-functional teams and good working culture. There was also an fantastic orientation and training session. I enrolled in different agile projects with other interns and finally we met the target goal we set.

What I wish was different

Nothing honestly! I love to work here so much and wish I can be back someday in the future : )

Advice

We everyone received the chocolate and some products which was very nice!

Marketing Intern

What I liked

I worked for Kakaozon's managing company, Orion Business Consulting for about 8 months in 2020. This was my first real world experience and I'm very grateful for everything I've learned during my time there. While I brought some experience to the table in Data Analytics and Marketing, I learned TONS about consulting for small businesses, digital marketing, influencer marketing and social media strategies. Because the company is very small, I was given a lot of freedom to take on projects, make decisions and pitch ideas. And also- lots of chocolate! Overall I had a great experience in the internship and even extended it to the Fall semester. Additionally, the position was fully remote (it was peak pandemic), which was a great benefit that allowed me to work from home in Philadelphia.

What I wish was different

Not necessarily different, but the job was constantly changing as people came and went in the company. I started out focusing on Amazon Ads and shopping, but by the end of the internship I was also dealing with influencers on social media, writing copy and creating creative content. It is a great opportunity to learn but at times I wished for a more structured program.

Advice

Come with an open mind and don't be afraid to bring ideas to the table.

Marketing Intern

What I liked

I worked at KakaoZon on the marketing team for a semester and loved it! It was a welcoming environment, filled with learning experiences, growth and encouragement. I was mostly in charge of social media content creation as well as content planning. Francisco was super helpful with getting me up to speed as well as helping me during the length of the intership. Ability to work in the office or online, which was super useful as a full time college student. I recommend working here, lovely expirience.

What I liked

I have been working with the Kakaozon's managing company, Orion Business consulting for almost 4 years. Throughout this time, Francisco has helped me expand my knowledge on marketing in a hands on setting. Each task targets a different niche of marketing, which helps me to grasp concepts to create an overall understanding of the job. Without Francisco's dedication to his internship team, learning all I have learned wouldn't have been possible!
