What I liked

The diversity of staff.

What I wish was different

The upper management was mean and had no idea how to achieve a safe workplace environment for staff. It was kids health over staff's. Former campers turned staff were valued more and paid more than experienced staff. One wrong move and you were fired.

Lifeguard and Bunk Counselor

What I liked

This job changed my life. I became a different, better person and I learned things about myself that I'd never known before. The kids I lived with were fantastic. If nothing else, being able to care for them and have the possibility to improve their lives the way they'd helped improve mine made any unpleasant parts of the job entirely worthwhile.

What I wish was different

Advice

This job will push you to your limit and then some, but if you stick with it you can grow immensely and learn so much about yourself. You need to be open to change and be willing to work very hard at times, but it is so rewarding in the end. Additionally, you definitely have to like kids.
