What I wish was different
The hours were a little long and the pay wasn't great but I loved what I did so it made up for it.
Advice
If you want to work with children, understand that you may have long hours and not so great pay but it is all worth it in the end. Seeing what the kids have learned from you and taken away from your lessons is the greatest!

Preschool Teacher
August 2015 • Rockford, IL
What I liked
I loved that I could lead a class and teach curriculum and have lots of great learning experiences towards my teaching degree.
What I wish was different
It was set up more like a daycare and I felt like I was treated just like a daycare worker and not a teacher. I loved the kids but didn't care for the way it was run there.
Advice
If you don't have a teaching degree yet but have an associates then this is a great learning experience for teaching, if you are going into education. Just know that it is still a daycare so you will be treated as such, and there is no guarantee that you will stay in the room you were hired for.

What I liked
I like working with the kids and participating in field trips.
What I wish was different
I wish people at Kinder Care would be more organized.
Advice
I have worked there for four years and it is a different day everyday. I would like to say that I got the taste of being the head teacher everyday over the summer. Most days it was overwhelming because my co-teachers would look at me expecting me to calm and control all the students but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Preschool Teacher
May - September 2019 • Jacksonville, FL
What I liked
What I wish was different
Advice
My one advice was to make sure you stay strong and remember to do it for the kids. During my time there I saw way too many teachers leave and give up and I think most of them really don't understand how damaging it can be. Children are our future and we must do what it takes to make it the best for them.

Assistant Teacher
May 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
I love the environment and being able to work with a wide range of students. Everyone who worked there genuinely cared about children, which is extremely important. We validated every child’s feelings no matter how small, and always taught the students it was okay to feel that way, which is a very important lesson.
What I wish was different
I wish my schedule would have been a bit different, working until 6pm was tiresome
Advice
Do not be afraid to try something new with the students, whether it’s a new game, new song, activity, or skill, do not be afraid to try it out!
