Kindros

Intern

July 2023 • Boston, MA

What I liked

Loved the culture of respect, transparency, and purpose. My feedback was valued equally, I was encouraged to speak, and my presence was welcomed at different events and meetings.

What I wish was different

I wish it was a more structured internship experience because they don't have a formal "internship experience".

Advice

Get the most mentorship and value out of it as possible. I was given a lot of autonomy but sometimes that meant less direction. Seek help when needed, and seek value out of the entire experience.

What I liked

Everyone working there was very passionate about financial literacy which meant that there were a lot of interesting and dynamic conversations happening every time we met. Even in a remote environment, all the interns put in a lot of work and communicated effectively to get things done. Great place to make an impact while also being fostered in a workplace that encourages growth and learning.

What I liked

Interning at Kindros has been a thoroughly rewarding experience. In a start-up culture like this, everything is collaborative. Reporting directly to the company's CEO and Founder, Stephen Martiros, allows each of us to be heard. The collaborative work environment often transitions into group learning, not only about personal finance, but also through thought-provoking conversations about how to make education more accessible and truly impart "knowledge to the next generation." I had little experience with financial education and virtual internships before working at Kindros. Not only have I learned more than I imagined over the past months, I have also been gratified by seeing my ideas and work bear fruit. This has been particularly resonant since I am passionate about education in general and financial education in particular.

Advice

I highly recommend this internship because this company truly cares about the team's collective and individual progress and learning. Working at Kindros enables you meet like-minded individuals who are eager to make a difference in some way. Its support and confidence-building tools help you make your blue sky ideas a reality, and Stephen's infectious enthusiasm rubs off on everyone--not just me, but all my fellow interns who I had the pleasure of getting to know and interact with. I will carry all these lessons with me throughout my career.

What I liked

Working at Kindros has been a collaborative and fun experience that encourages learning and growth among community. It is a mission-driven company with a goal of helping future generations have financial freedom and confidence, which is something that many people can get behind! I have enjoyed the autonomy I have been given to lead projects and receive feedback from my peers, as well as working in teams to create meaningful work. I've also enjoyed the learning opportunities from the founder, Steve, who was always willing to share advice and financial knowledge with each of us.

What I liked

Being an intern for Kindros has been one of the most meaningful experiences that I've had as a student. Not only did I learn tons about financial literacy and the importance of spreading this knowledge to people who may not have access to it, but I've also learned how to collaborate with a close-knit cohort including 7 other undergrads, an MBA student, and a founder who is deeply motivated to help people of all backgrounds. There are always teaching moments, whether it be about professional etiquette, DEI, the basics of investment, or simply sage advice for us younger folks. My ideas and work had a genuine impact on various projects and I really feel like I've learned so much by "doing" in the past 11 months. Overall, I've had a wonderful time working for Kindros!

Working with Kindros means working for a deep cause with a highly driven and humble leader. Steve was invested in the team's growth throughout the course of the internship and hosted exclusive "Teach-ins" on topics such as financial wellbeing, DE&I, and business etiquettes. It was a great experience- Lots of great fun projects with Steve listening to every feedback coming his way and taking action on it.
