New Business Development Intern

What I liked

The entire experience was amazing. From the location, to the job itself, to the people that work at Kinexus, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Working at a non-profit was never something I considered doing, but my time with Kinexus was really mind changing.

What I wish was different

A housing stipend or discount for living at Lake Michigan College would have made this an easier experience.

Advice

I would encourage future interns at Kinexus to get involved in Kinexus within their time as an intern. Step outside of your role of your specific job description and help out where they need it or where it interests you. Everyone there is willing to help you learn, so take advantage of that. I would also encourage them to explore Michigan if they are not natives! It is beautiful there so take your weekends to see as much as you can.

Finance Intern

What I liked

The people at Kinexus were very friendly. The company encouraged intern feedback on how to improve their culture and the internship program. As an intern, I completed projects that were necessary for the function of the team and the company as a whole.

What I wish was different

The company has multiple buildings, and as a finance intern, I was in one while the rest of the "intern team" was in another, so I felt fairly isolated.

Advice

You can only get out of the internship what you put in. I had an overall great experience, but I also worked really hard and wasn't afraid to implement change.
