I learned a lot about writing and producing news on a deadline. I felt like a member of the team. I feel like my work was appreciated and that the skills I gained are easily transferable into a future job in a newsroom.
What I wish was different
Advice
Stay positive and open-minded. It often feels like everything you're doing is urgent or crucial because it's the News and you have to be able to work within the confines of the day and get things out in a timely manner. Getting whatever information you have up online quickly and without error is hugely important.

Everything was very hands on learning. No question was ignored, and everyone there was always ready to help out.
