They treat interns like equals. Many of the cops are pretty laid back about having riders and they will try to find some interesting situations to get into so that you can learn.
What I wish was different
I wish that LMPD internships could lead to a job within the department. Unfortunately, I was told that a contractor (not affiliated with LMPD) hires employees so my superiors did not have a say in me potentially getting hired - regardless if they thought I was a hard worker.
Advice
Meet as many people as you can - everyone from the desk workers to the majors. They all have really great advice and experiences to share. There is something to learn from every person and every situation.
