M3 Insurance

Business Insurance intern

May - August 2022 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

The culture of the company was incredible and being able to go to clients' meetings and experience what it is like to be in the same room with CFO's, Heads of HR and more.

What I wish was different

Not much, this was the perfect internship to understand what I like to do and what I don't like to do. If there was one thing I wish I would've done differently, would be to start talking with people earlier than I did and don't be afraid to ask for 10-15 minutes of their time to learn more about what they do.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to people, you are only there for a few months so learn as much as you can from the start. Don't be afraid to ask questions and try to go the extra mile when they ask you to do something. That can go a long way!

Insurance Internship

May - July 2020 • De Pere, WI

What I liked

I am so grateful for my internship with M3. I learned so much about the insurance industry, networking, professional development, and the business world!

What I wish was different

Unfortunately the internship was virtual because of COVID. I wish it could have been in person, but M3 did a great job keeping interns engaged and excited about their work. I still had a memorable, virtual experience!

Advice

If your internship experience is interrupted by unknown or unforeseen factors, try to make it the best you can! If someone interests you within the company reach out! Make the internship experience your own and don't be afraid to connect and reach out to fellow interns and employees at the company.

Business Intern

May - August 2019 • Wausau, WI

What I liked

M3 had one of the best work cultures I have ever experienced. Everyone was very welcoming and even as interns, our opinions and thoughts felt very valued. The internship program is really well developed and we are given a lot of freedom in our role. We were thoroughly introduced to both sides of M3, Property and Casualty and Employee Benefits. We were really able to dive into the material and find what we liked best. Once we had a certain area we found the most interest in, we were able to choose or create projects in that area. M3 truly wants you to make the most of your experience and they are extremely open to allowing you to choose what that may be. I honestly enjoyed going to work every day this summer and it is 100% a company I would work for in the future.

Business Insurance Intern

May - August 2018 • Wawatosa, WI

What I liked

I liked the freedom to create your own professional schedule and be a sponge within the office setting.

What I wish was different

I wish we would have had more chances to be within other offices. It was definitely difficult to travel if one needed or wanted to.

Advice

Look for businesses that are willing to teach you because it's all about what you can learn from a company in order to provide this learned information to your next employer or experience.

Insurance is a booming career industry-- everyone should try it out before saying "no".

Business Insurance Intern

May - August 2018 • Madison, WI

What I liked

The autonomy and fast-paced environment. I was on a sales track so I was able to go on ride alongs and experience real-world client meetings. I was fully immersed in the company and the work they were doing for their clients over the course of the summer. I was given projects that actually made a difference and were being implemented in the company while I was there and after leaving.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been assigned to one specific team. Rather than working with a core group of people, my challenge was to meet and work with as many different people as possible which was incredible. I had the opportunity to witness different sales styles and understand how to change my approach when working with people in different positions. However, I do wish I would've had the opportunity to work with a specific group of people so they could get to know me in depth and really experience my work ethic and how I evolved from start to finish over the summer.

Advice

Absolutely an incredible company to work for. They give you a framework, and then they say "go ahead and do it!". This autonomy really tested my strengths and pushed me to be a real self-starter and grasp projects on my own. This internship is entirely what you make of it. You can slide by with doing the bare minimum, but to get the most out of it and push yourself both personally and professionally, you must be willing to take things head on and be a real go-getter to get the most out of the experience. I absolutely loved the culture and it made me realize how important company culture is, it almost matters more than the industry or product/service you're working with. I have accepted a full time offer upon graduation in May of 2019 and could not be more excited!
