I loved the community and learning more about Chicago on the West side. I got to direct a play with kids from 1st through 8th grade, and that was a very challenging but rewarding experience.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been able to go every day, but since it was an unpaid internship I had to work a few days a week at my two other jobs to make up the loss of wages. I also wish we had more time to dedicate to the play we worked on, but it turned out fine in the end.
Advice
As difficult as anything feels in the moment, the ending outcome will always make the work worth it.
