Marion & Associates LLC

Accounting Intern

January - April 2022 • Exton, PA

What I liked

While working at Marion & Associates, I was able to learn all about business taxes in a very hands on way. Mike was able to teach more about local and federal taxes than one would learn in one's business tax course. I really appreciated learning face to face compared to learning with a bunch of videos. Mike encouraged me to ask questions because he wanted me to learn. He was also able to provide a lot of advice about both the business world and accounting industry. Everyone at Marion & Associates made you feel like you were apart of the family, and working here has been a extraordinary experience.

What I wish was different

I do not have anything I wish was different, I enjoyed the entire experience of working at Marion & Associates.

Advice

There are lot of important details when it comes to completing tax returns, so I would recommend keeping notes. In addition, do not be afraid to ask questions if you are confused or speak up if something seems odd with a return. Show that you are open to learning new things and you're committed to doing your best!

Tax Preparer

What I liked

Working at Marion & Associates LLC has been the most engaging and informative experience I've had throughout my professional career. As students getting close to graduation, the goal is to find a profession that we are passionate about and enjoy doing daily. For some students, this may be easier said than done, even post-graduation. What I enjoyed most about interning for this accounting firm was being able to learn so much more than just accounting. I received plenty of educational and professional advice from the CPAs of the company, Michael, and George. Much of the advice I received was information that I could use with other firms inside and outside the accounting industry, which many other firms wouldn’t give to incoming interns they may be trying to recruit. In my opinion, a respectable act that couldn’t be overlooked when I was deciding between offer letters post-graduation. Furthermore, I enjoyed becoming apart of the Marion family! If you are looking for an experience in the accounting field to guide your future endeavors, while having fun doing so, Marion & Associates LLC is without a doubt a firm that you should consider!

What I wish was different

There isn’t too much I would change about this experience honestly. I interned at this firm for two tax seasons and made incredible progress. I am still learning to this day and that’s the beautiful part about my experience working for this company. Overall, working for this firm is an experience that I am confident undergraduate students will love!

Advice

Attention to detail is key in this profession. Your success in this experience will be determined by the level of focus you give each tax return. If you are not asking questions, something is wrong! So please, do not hesitate to ask Michael or anyone for that matter a question. My first tax season working for Marion & Associates LLC, I interrupted Michael an incredible amount of times to make sense of different tax documents and every time Michael was there to guide me through. Another reason why I decided to join the firm full-time. I developed a trust that the Marion family truly has my best interests at heart and will do anything to avoid me from failing inside and outside of the firm. It is your responsibility to be dedicated and motivated to learning and becoming a better tax accountant every day!
