I really enjoyed working with the youth and the staff at this facility. They were kind and very informative. Each staff member was unique and was able to share diverse information about this job and other similar jobs they have had in the past.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to shadow the other departments on site (such as GAP, AP, and probation) as well as work more with supporting agencies like the Marion County police officers and court.
Advice
I would say that if you intern here you have to take steps into your own hands, as soon as possible. Scheduling times with other departments took over 2 months for me and I was still unable to visit them. Additionally, I didn't get more responsibilities with the juveniles unless I took initiative/ asked.
