Medica is a nonprofit health plan. Medica serves its members and communities through a variety of entities under the non-profit holding company and through the Medica Foundation.
CORE BUSINESS
Medica provides health coverage and services to nearly 1.5 million members. Medica offers commercial employer-based coverage, Medicare, Medicaid, and individual and family coverage. These coverage options are offered in different states throughout our service area of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Illinois, and Wyoming.
Medica has several broad, regional networks that serve members across our nine-state service area. Medica has partnered with leading provider care systems in nearly each of these states to provide localized accountable care organization (ACO) and care system products. Medica also provides access to large national networks for our commercial members through a contract with UnitedHealthcare.

Medica is a major employer in the Minneapolis - St. Paul metropolitan area and has regional offices in Omaha, Fargo, Duluth, St. Cloud, and Madison with roughly 2,500 employees across our twelve-state footprint.
In 2022, Medica’s contact center answered nearly 2.2 million calls from members, providers, brokers, and other partners. Medica’s operations team processed an average of 1.38 million medical claims per month.
