Volunteer in E.R.

October 2018 - May 2019 • Irving, TX

What I liked

The Hands-On Experience. The Fast-paced learning opportunity and environment. The Opportunity to shadow doctors, nurses, and other staff and faculty. The ability to be helpful, serve others, and get a glimpse into healthcare. Ability to come in whenever possible for me; flexible schedule and school took opportunity as credit.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to volunteer. I really loved the experience- It was totally worth it, and I learned so much.

Advice

I think it's important to get your foot in the door and get a glimpse of your area of work/study before jumping straight into it. I notice that school and classroom experience can be quite different than actual hands-on and practical experience. It is important for yourself and others to enjoy what you do and feel comfortable there.
