I love the people in the environment that I worked with. Everybody was so inviting and willing to teach me everything I needed to know.
What I wish was different
Nothing. I enjoyed every aspect of my internship. I enjoyed that I was able to spend time in each part of the Sheriffs Office, including the jail, the courthouse, and Intel.
Advice
Make sure to have a good time management and keep track of all of your hours. Also, make sure to journal about your day day after each day so you remember each detail

Wildland Firefighter
April 2019 • Grand Junction, CO
What I liked
Having been a wildland firefighter for 3 years now I love every aspect of the job. This summer was obviously a busy one with the Pine Gulch Fire and many other large ones. Being paid to be outside working a physical job in the woods is hard to beat.
What I wish was different
Nothing.
Advice
If you are looking to become a wildland firefighter, start applying early to positions and contacting places where you would like to work such as the USFS and BLM. Start getting in great physical shape early as well.
