What I liked

Working with the kids and learning more about the field of therapeutic recreation. Every day was something new and the kids were always excited to be there which made me excited to go into work.

What I wish was different

Our location this summer would get a little hectic because Boys and Girls club and summer school were all sharing the space. There is nothing Milwaukee Recreation could have done to avoid this though.

Advice

Be flexible. There are many days when the schedule would not go to plan, but that's how it goes when working with kids. Having the ability to roll with the punches and to adapt will be beneficial in this job as well as in the future.

Outdoor Education Intern

What I liked

I worked with some amazing people that were passionate about promoting outdoor education. I got to work with education animals that lived on site which was pretty great. It wasn't repetitive work, one day I would be in a classroom, the next day I would be removing invasive species from the grounds, and other days I would be working out of one of the State Parks.
