Construction Project Management Intern

What I liked

The family feel you get while working on-site with your project team is unmatched! Miron has strong pride in their 5 core values and it makes the internship experience one that you will never forget.

What I wish was different

I could not have asked for more. Miron treated me as if I were a full-time employee. All of my needs were accommodated to the highest standard.

Advice

Anybody looking to gain knowledge in the construction industry should check out Miron! A piece of advice I would like to share is to always ask questions! When you walk around the site, always think about different things that you see.

Project Accounting Intern

May - November 2020 • Neenah, WI

What I liked

I really enjoyed the environment and culture at Miron. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I always felt welcome and that they cared about me. I was able to work on lots of different construction projects and see some of them from start to finish which was very interesting to learn the whole process. I worked on different projects like weekly forecasting and labor productivity reports which are very important for the team. There was a variety of different projects and daily tasks which kept the job interesting. I knew that I was doing important work for my team and helping them which really added value to my experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to see a project site that I did some of the accounting work for. It is not very common for an intern who works in the office to see one and another reason I wasn't able to go was due to COVID-19.

Advice

I would recommend that many different majors could do this internship not just accounting. It is great for accounting majors but would also be good for economics or finance. I would also recommend to ask lots of questions if you aren't sure of what they are asking you to do. They are very understanding and will explain it in greater length so you feel comfortable doing your job.

Great company environment, very centered on learning and actual responsibilities on job sites. I learned far more in this one summer about Project Management than I ever have in the classroom.

I wish it had been longer so I could have experienced more.

Advice

Ask questions. There is no stupid question, and everyone is always excited to talk about what they do.

I learned a lot about what I will be doing as my future position at the company I hope to get an offer from. A lot of very nice people who taught me a lot, but yet let me figure it out on my own at times.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to see more phases of the project I was on.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You’re there for a reason, to learn more about your job, to gain experience and to decide if you like the company you could start a career with.

Construction Project Management Intern

May 2018 • Neenah, WI

What I liked

Miron set the bar very high for me after the first summer in 2018 and drove me to come back for another summer. They have built a strong foundation for me to be able to grow and give me the tools to be successful in this industry.

What I wish was different

See larger projects but that will come with time.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions; questions only make you more knowledgeable and a more well rounded individual.

Construction

What I liked

I really enjoy working with people who I would never get the opportunity to speak to if it wasn't for my summer job. Athletic training is a totally different field than construction, so I feel well-rounded to experience manual labor and the chance to have met everyone there.
