Engineering Intern

What I liked

I had an amazing time at my internship! It was a very interesting experience to learn about how the industry works and what kind of work is available within it. I was able to connect with new people outside my major as well as those who are very experienced in the field. The culture was very supportive and exciting with summer games and lunch & learns that were offered as well as a kind group of interns that helped form our mini-community.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more opportunity to get mentorship from my team. A majority of the time there, I was researching for solutions on my own time and had to take the initiative to locate the person and schedule meetings with those more knowledgeable about the subject. It is sometimes difficult to reach out, especially with busy work schedules and other projects that my coworkers must focus on. It would also have been a nice option to shadow some of the work that my coworkers did.

Advice

One piece of advice is taking full advantage of your time in the company to learn about them and the people that work there. It is a great way to network and build relationships, especially if the internship and company is somewhere you want to work at in the future.

What I liked

Interning at Moog Broad Reach allows you to see the inner workings of an aerospace business from the design to the testing and installment.

What I wish was different

There is no program for the interns. You essentially do whatever comes your way, or you find your own work.

Advice

Don't be stressed out if it seems like you're not doing anything. You are primarily there to learn.
