Morgan Autism Center

Instructional Aide

May - August 2019 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed this position, all the staff and clients are great people and I enjoyed getting to know them all. I have never had a better summer at work. I was also working as a dishwasher at Testarossa Winery. It was a lot of work and a lot of it was hard but I still had a good time and made a lot of money, and that made for a good summer.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to attain an internship, because none of my work experience this summer was career related.

Advice

I would recommend people to not shy away from normal hourly jobs when better options aren’t available, making some money and feeling productive is much better than doing nothing.

What I liked

I loved the atmosphere and the ability to work one on one with students at the school. Everyone there is amazing, talented and kind hearted. It's a special place to work, and I hope to go back sometime soon.

Advice

The most important part of this job is realizing that you are there to help others- this is not a job that one should do to "build a resume", this is a job that you should do because you enjoy it. Like everything, it can be challenging at times, but it is absolutely worth it.

Instructional Aid

February 2017 - July 2018 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

what i liked about my experience is working with a population that i had no prior experience with.

What I wish was different

i wish i had started earlier!

Advice

what I would advice others is to go in with an open mind and to be honest with yourself that this type of job is right for you. I am suggesting this since there was a high turnover rate with employees.
