Internal Audit Intern

June - August 2018 • Mumbai, Maharashtra

What I liked

Work timings were long and strict, which allowed me to get a better idea of what work days are like. Further, my project supervisors were were extremely co-operative and helped me through any difficulties that had.

What I wish was different

One of the only problems I had was that my work hours were not clerly defined, but rather customized to adhere to daily workload. This often lead to personal schedule issues.

Advice

If you really put in the effort to understand the work and the importance of it to the individual businesses that EY works with, the internship can become a more interesting and exciting place to go.

Accounting Staff

September 2017 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Rapid growth and learning opportunities galore. I enjoyed that many of my peers were driven and on the same page as me professionally.

What I wish was different

The hours can be hard, and if you get on a client that is rough or with a team member who is rough it can have a negative impact on your experience.

Advice

If you enjoy the work and the speed of the work, grind it out as long as you feel like you’re learning and getting growth opportunities. If those aren’t true, don’t waste your time in the wrong field!

I loved the hands on experience I had working with clients. EY sent me to many cool states all over the US to train and also educate their interns on real life situations. I now have a huge network all over the world due to my EY internship.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer. I enjoyed it so much.

Advice

Do not be afraid to show your personality. Anyone can learn the skills but its hard for companies to find candidates that they will actually enjoy spending 40 hours a week with. Be fun and outgoing!

EY Launch Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Accomplished goals: Attend 2-3 networking/social events to expand network and ask questions to understand various roles, activities, and programs in/out of the firm. Build a relationship with leadership through social networking, and work towards identifying new potential mentors across different service lines. Aside from attending events, get involved in the planning and organization side of things. i.e. Plan an intern social. - Consult with engagement team to understand assignments when given tasks. Document progress/tasks/accomplishments throughout the rotations. Identify developmental points for continuous improvement. - Narrow down which service line may best suit me for a client-serving internship opportunity.Meeting people through activity #1 will help in this process because socializing will allow me to learn from a variety of people, and ultimately make a more informed decision.

What I wish was different

Longer rotations, opportunity to get to know intern class better.

Advice

Going to NYC alone was scary at first, but I realized that there's so much power in the ability to grow when you're unfamiliar and uncomfortable. My biggest advice is be open to failure, because it makes it that much easier to learn from it. Don't close any doors for yourself by wondering too much about "how to make something happen." Just go for it and the right things will fall in place.
