A lot of hands-on experience. The supervisors were very helpful and always there for me. I got to do a lot of assignments on my own, which helped me learn so much. Also the fact that they pay interns at all is so amazing as most journalism internships are unpaid.
What I wish was different
I guess I would've liked a little bit more training before I started. However, it's a small staff and they really needed me, so it's something that I can overlook.
Advice
You will feel overwhelmed at times, but try to say yes as much as possible. The more stories you do and the more you help the station, the more you will learn. Ask questions constantly and take feedback as it comes.
