Intern, Affiliate Relations and Advocacy, National Legal Partnership

What I liked
During my internship, the NGLCC moved into their new office and it's absolutely gorgeous. It was also just a block away from a stop on the Red Line, so I was able to use the DC Metro to get to work fairly easily, and to get around town in general. I also got some really interesting and substantial projects to work on over the summer, which are great additions to my portfolio.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship had been paid; housing in Washington, D.C. is prohibitively expensive for many people, and I almost couldn't afford to go. I had to rely on the generosity of various departments and programs at Rollins, including the Rollins Professional Fellows.
Advice
Take time to explore the city! I'm looking at going back to Washington, D.C. for law school, and I already have a list running of favorite restaurants, music venues, and even neighborhoods that will certainly help me as I look for longer-term housing.
