The community was very welcoming and very helpful. They were very patient and willing to help me learn to be successful in my position.
What I wish was different
I am only allowed to work a certain amount of hours but this was because of the job class that I was in.
Advice
It is very important to ask questions when you are starting out. When you are not sure on how to do something ask because it is better to ask and get the job done right than to get it done with mistakes.

Orientation Leader
July - September 2019 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
I was able to guide incoming freshmen on their new journey.
What I wish was different
i wish incoming freshmen where more open minded and were willing to participate in more activities.
Advice
it’s alright to not know the answers to everything students might ask. All you can do is say “I don’t know the answer to that question but I can look into it for you and let you know what I find out.”

Student Worker
March 2018 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
I enjoyed being able to have learned what working a professional field is like and applying my knowledge of leadership and communication to work. I felt that I had made many connections to new people.
What I wish was different
More interaction with people my age, who have the same goal of starting their career after college.
Advice
Student worker positions are very underrated and I believe that is a job that almost anyone can take on. These positions not only allow students to get hands-on experience behind the scenes of working in higher education - which is the field I see myself working in and see myself growing in.

Operations Intern
July - December 2019 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
Working with a talented and diverse group of individuals striving to achieve the same goal. It was a new experience since I transitioned from working in the kitchen to a office position, and many of the tasks were brand new. However I was able to adapt quickly and learn new valuable skills to use in the future. The current flat management structure also allowed easier access towards my supervisors giving me the opportunity to meet deadlines at an efficient pace.
What I wish was different
A little more organization about who is in charge of certain projects, but it is understandable due the major campus move and organizations shifts that is currently ongoing between Kendall College and National Louis University.
Advice
Stay organized and maintain a personal task list and what should be done, who to report to for the said task, and when it should be delivered.
