The personnel who worked with me were very kind and supportive. I really appreciated the effort they put into the intern program, and their willingness to treat us like fellow employees. I never felt unappreciated or ignored. Working with Maurice in particular, it felt like he invested a lot of time and effort to personalize my experience. He talked me through that which I was doing well and that which I needed to work on, making me feel comfortable but also pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone and develop as an employee and as a person.
What I wish was different
I would have preferred different project work. I was doing a lot of front-end software development and I found that pretty boring.
Advice
I would advise interns to take on a varied workload so they can learn what interests them. The back half of my internship, for example, was focused on Project Management for a STEM outreach event, something I would never have signed up for. It ended up being a rewarding experience, and I learned a lot about what kind of work excites me.
