It is definitely good to volunteer/intern as early as possible to be able to build professional connections and to gain knowledge and experience in a field you are interested in.

What I liked
I enjoyed working in the field that I want to be a part of after graduation. I got to work with diabetes patients and learned how clinical research works.
What I wish was different
I wish i had done a bit more than reading and writing a protocol. I shadowed a bit but wish I had gotten more patient interaction.
Advice
The hours were flexible and the team I worked for was amazing. Nemours offers various internships in different departments so it was a great place to intern.
