Netsmart Technologies, Inc.

Technical Analyst Future (Intern)

June - July 2023 • Overland Park, KS

What I liked

I loved many aspects of the program. I got to work on meaningful projects for my team (doing configurations and builds and creating product training videos for clients). There were also many intern optional events that were offered, and many of them were very interesting such as financial planning, an internal career fair, and panels from various organizations within the company. You are able to ask questions, talk to lots of different people, and they do a great job of exposing you to other parts of the company.

What I wish was different

Originally it was supposed to be a 10 week program, but it was shortened to 8.

Advice

Ask questions! All of the full-time associates were extremely helpful and would go out of the way to support me.

Security Engineer Future

June 2022 • Overland Park, KS

What I liked

I was able to work alongside full-time associates on my team almost immediately instead of given meaningless "intern" projects. Therefore, I gained real-world experience in the cybersecurity field, which was crucial for developing my career. The associates on my team were more-than-willing to help me with any tools and assignments that I had little experience in prior. Finally, we had several meetings with members of the executive cabinet, which contributed to having a welcoming and encouraging culture.

June - August 2022 • Overland Park, KS

What I liked

I was able to gain hands on experience using the skills I had learned in the classroom. They did a great job keeping busy and giving multiple projects and different tasks to work on throughout the summer. You have the chance to be given a project to work on, and it is up to you to be able to get it done while working with the teams necessary to complete it. We had multiple networking opportunities with different teams and executives and had the chance to be able to ask questions to almost anyone in the company. We also had multiple different outings where we were able to connect with different interns and get to know each other better.

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2018 • Overland Park, KS

What I liked

I loved that all the interns (except a few local ones) were hosted/dormed in the same apartment complexes while we worked at the company headquarters. It helped us create more bonding with each other. Plus, I had a great mentor from whom I learned a lot.

What I wish was different

Maybe have the internship for 12 weeks rather than 10 weeks.

Advice

It is great company to work at for your summer experience. It might just be the best summer you would have.
