New England Infrastructure, Inc.

Assistant Estimator

September 2019 - January 2020 • Hudson, MA

What I liked

I gained a tremendous amount of experience both in estimating and in my general construction knowledge while working here. The people here are all very helpful and truly embrace the meaning of a team. Everybody is willing to help a hand when you're in need and the atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. While working at NEI you will have the opportunity to work on a vast array of projects in both scope and magnitude. Whether it be a multimillion dollar public bridge project or working with individual private clients, you will always feel very involved and intrigued in your work. I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend this company to either students looking to experience a job in heavy civil or anyone looking to start a career.

What I liked

Reflecting on my experience with New England Infrastructure there are many things that come to mind. One of the most important and meaningful aspects of this company to me is the family type environment that they breed. Working with this tight knit group day in and day out you really get to know them on a professional and personal level. They do it right, from the after hour events they hold to people bringing in treats every Friday (sometimes it really is the little things) All in all these are truly good/fun people to work with. So much so that I had to come back for a second co-op! Being able to experience and work in both the estimating and project management departments I definitely got a good feel for NEIs dynamic and how they utilize their co-op. You are simply not just a number making coffee for people and doing chore work like you may fall into at a larger corporate company. NEI is a growing company so you can expect the office to usually always be very busy. However, from my experience whenever I was confused or had a question, they would always take the time to explain things in more depth to help me come to an understanding. Both Bill Dube and Jay Mauro were great mentors to me and really wanted to help me grow. There is definitely opportunity here if you are looking to grow with a company.
