New Village Press has been a publisher in the humanities and social sciences since 2005, best known for transdisciplinary books in urban sociology, community arts and culture, and progressive city design. Our titles aim to animate emerging movements in societal transformation with true stories about collaborative community building and the creative new roles that artists and scholars, citizens and planners can play in public life. The press crosses boundaries between professional, academic, and informal education with books that engage scholars, practitioners, and community activists alike. Most significantly, New Village books go beyond abstract policy and polemics to present the motivations and nitty-gritty work for making a certain part of the world a better place. Our books are distributed by New York University Press. New Village Press, Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
