Field Service Intern (previously Pretreatment intern)
June 2020 • Green Bay, WI
What I liked
I had Flexible hours, great management and team to work with, and NEW Water staff really tries to give you the experience you are trying to get as an intern. Your tasks come first but they offer side projects, and cross experience with different departments when available.
What I wish was different
COVID-19 really put a roadblock in a lot of good experience opportunities. because of that, I was primarily stuck in an office doing data entry and working on environmental compliance regarding the Pretreatment program and Green Bay's Industries.
Advice
The effort put in equals effort put out by other staff to get you the experience wanted. Obviously limited during a pandemic because Safety is first. But, they definitely respect an outgoing intern that seeks out experience and projects. Having a detail oriented and continuous improvement mindset is key in this position.

Water Resources Intern
May - August 2020 • Green Bay, WI
What I liked
Collaborative atmosphere that focuses on safety of employees and teamwork to improve and protect the water quality of the Fox River and Lake Michigan; which effluent flows into.
What I wish was different
The Covid-19 pandemic did not allow for some specific portions of the internship experience to occur.
Advice
Teamwork, competency, and the ability to communicate are important attributes to working successfully in a water treatment facility where strict water quality standards must be met in order for the facility to function properly.
