The whole journey of this Academy was full of knowledge and excitement. The part of this journey I liked the most was to work and learn with children.
What I wish was different
Everything was perfect. I didn't feel like anything has to be changed.
Advice
One piece of advice that I would like to share is always answer children' curious questions politely because they may ask the same question ten times. It might irritate you but if you answer them rudely once, they will stop showing their curiosity and lose their interest. Hence, they will be left behind in the worldly matters.

Computer Science Research Intern

What I liked
I really enjoyed the freedom we had in designing our own experimental research project. My group was the virtual reality team, and we designed a classroom in virtual reality to measure focus and retention in VR classroom environments compared to standard online learning environments.
What I wish was different
I wish we had been able to choose which research team we were placed in. We had freedom once we were in the team, but prior to that we were assigned based on the professor's needs and our background, not based on our interests.
Advice
Take advantage of all of the resources and connections that NYIT has to offer! It is a great place to network and meet undergrads with common interests, graduate students and professionals in the field.

Orientation Leader
July - September 2019 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I liked the up beat environment and the likeminded individuals that I worked with. Everyone was incredibly supportive and team-oriented. Honed my interpersonal skills and how to work with a group to accomplish long term goals.
What I wish was different
Although working closely with others can teach you more than going solo, it can limit individual expression and creativity. Everyone has the same rules to abide to and expectations to reach, so at times it was difficult to be independent and make decisions for yourself.
Advice
You are what makes a job. Everyone brings their own flare and meaning to their title so make sure you are yourself, unapologetically.
