NYLCV is the only statewide environmental organization in New York that fights for clean water, clean air, renewable energy and open space through political action. We’re non-partisan, pragmatic and effective.
WHAT WE DO
We Evaluate Elected Officials: NYLCV believes that the environment should be a top concern among voters, candidates and the media in every election and at every level of government, every single year. In between election cycles, we issue policy agendas, issue support memorandums on bills and provide updates on legislative progress.
We Endorse Candidates: When New Yorkers go to the polls, they count on NYLCV to recommend the candidate most likely to be an environmental leader. Every election year, NYLCV develops candidate questionnaires that detail our Board’s Policy Priorities. Candidates are interviewed by our Regional Boards. The NYLCV Environmental Scorecard was also considered when making endorsement decisions.
We Elect: NYLCV does its part in the fight for a greener environment by lobbying elected officials, mobilizing advocates and making endorsements. NYLCV’s political action committees go further – by directly waging electoral campaigns that defend our allies, defeat our enemies, and elects a new generation of environmental leaders.
