COVID-19 Contact Tracer
June 2020 • Valley Stream, NY
What I liked
I am glad to be apart of the NYS contact tracing initiative. It makes me content to know that I am helping the public by doing my part to stop the spread of a deadly pandemic. By making phone calls to people who have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, I am able to give more information to the person, and assure them we are here to help. The world is a scary place right now, and although getting a call from a contact tracer is nerve-wracking, at the end of our phone call you'll feel more calm and come to terms with the situation. I believe it helps people get through it when they know we care.
What I wish was different
I don't wish for anything to be different. I like this job a lot, and it does a lot for the general NYS public. I work from home in my own space where I can focus on the person at the end of the line.
Advice
There is a lot of information that goes with contact tracing. Take your time on the basics and ASK QUESTIONS! If you are not sure about something, ask a supervisor or someone with more information on what you are unsure about. You do not want to be giving false information to people you are taking with.
