Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2022 • Huntsville, AL

What I liked

I liked everything about my internship! Noblis is an incredible, innovative, ethical company that prioritizes meaningful work. This past summer was my second summer working with Noblis, and I am so grateful for the experiences I have had through my internships. I have worked on challenging yet rewarding software engineering projects and presented my work to the executive board at the end of the internship program. These opportunities gave me unmatched experience with collaboration, professional presentation skills, and agile software development. The company culture was also very inclusive, helpful, and caring.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to work on more frontend and UI/UX projects rather than backend heavy projects. (This is solely due to my personal interest in UI/UX.)

Advice

One piece of advice I would share would be to never hold yourself back from opportunities that feel out of your comfort zone. I first participated in Noblis' internship program the summer after my freshman year of college. Although I did not expect to get an internship that summer, I kept applying to explore my options, and I am forever grateful that I did. I have gained irreplaceable experience with both technical and soft skills through my internships with Noblis.

Robotic Process Automation Intern

June - September 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Welcoming and supportive environment despite the internship being fully remote. Real work and great learning experiences.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to interact a little more with other interns.

Advice

Reaching out to people to connect for a few minutes (zoom, phone, etc.) is great when starting a new role virtually.

Software Developer

June - August 2019 • Washington, DC

What I liked

Working at Noblis was a blast. A supportive environment, great people, and plenty of fun outside of work activities (such as an afternoon at an escape room). I learned so much from the experience.

What I wish was different

Commute was long at times on the metro, but that was really the only disadvantage.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to ask for help - everyone wants you to succeed at your internship, whether they are directly involved or not.

Data Science Intern

June - August 2019 • Reston, VA

What I liked

I loved being able to work with other Interns who were interested in the same thing as me, and get their support along with the support of employees overseeing the internship program.

What I wish was different

Not much! Perhaps that it would've been closer.

Advice

It'd be great if everyone could get internships like this one. I didn't have all the knowledge or experience I needed to do the job when I started, but I acquired and developed those skills during the internship. That, to me, is the most important thing about an internship.
