I have a unique situation. I had a medical problem and was classified as "disabled/not able to work". I wanted to go back to work. I am not sure as to why but I have not been able to find a job. It might be a combination of age and not having worked since 1999.

Augsburg URGO program gives paid research experience. The ability to get such experience while getting paid is outstanding.

I wish it was started earlier and went longer. Only 400 hours total.

What I liked

I had the opportunity to serve a missionary family there as a tutor for their kids. The family worked will SIL Aviation Wycliffe Bible translation. I helped there kids with school subjects ranging from 8th grade English to 3rd grade science.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had the opportunity to travel around Cameroon during my time off.

Advice

When traveling outside of the country, have an open mind about cultural differences. Don't wait to dive into the culture. Meet local people and ask lots of questions. Attend a local church and experience a worship service. Be bold but wise in your traveling.

I wish there had been a more concrete itinerary for extracurricular activities.
