North American Mission Board

Missionary Intern

June - August 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

I really enjoyed getting to experience and be a part of the everyday ministries offered by Vintage Church in Pittsburgh. I had the opportunity to facilitate food banks, serve community meals, and create an organizational system (using Excel and marked plastic bins) for the clothing donations. I also conducted research for future churches that will enter the community of Squirrel Hill, PA.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have stayed longer! I am looking into moving to help with this initiative to share the Gospel and serve the community after I graduate.

Advice

Go all in. It's a wonderful opportunity for personal growth and practical implementation of missions. Some days may be difficult, but the challenges during the internship will be for your greatest benefit.

What I liked

I was able to submerge myself in the culture of Boston and personally help (monetarily, mentally, and physically), and love on people I was vastly different from. I became closer with God through this.

What I liked

I enjoyed getting to work with a group of people to find out about a community 's spiritual climate and needs and opportunities, then compile that info into a paper for future church planters.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more structure to the itenerary.

Advice
