I loved the population they serve. The members are so much fun to be around and the clubhouse setting is really laid back. Sometimes it feels like a workplace, but most of the time it does not feel like a workplace at all. Something that is really awesome is, staff and members are suppose to blend in. That means that staff are able to dress laid back (but still appropriate) and are able to hang out with members and not be confine to their offices.
What I wish was different
I don't think I would change anything. The last day of my internship, I was offered a job at the clubhouse. I enjoyed it so much, that I didn't even need to consider taking the offer.
The one piece of advice that I would share, is to not be afraid of not having a lot of experience. I did this internship for my Associates degree and I did not have any experience at all in the human service. This is a great place to get your foot in the door and the members love students and getting to know them.
