I got a sense of what it is like as a teacher. It was a good experience as a leader because I was in charge of 10 students. I got to go on field trips and make lesson plans. I built a connection with my students and my coworkers. We all had fun learning different lesson and participating in each weeks theme. I got to see if teaching was a profession I wanted to pursue.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been better prepared, I didn’t get any training and really had to learn on my feet.
Advice
Be patient with yourself and take time for self care. Working with kids can be consuming and you have to remember to look after yourself too.
