Ochsner Health

Volunteer

July - August 2019 • Gretna, LA

What I liked

I interacted with a lot of patients during my time at Ochsner. Additionally, all of the physicians and nurses were very kind.

What I wish was different

I wish they had more tasks for me to do.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about this experience is you need to put yourself out there. You need to ask the nurses if you can watch them as they're doing their jobs to observe.

IS Management Intern

May - July 2021 • New Orleans, LA

What I liked

I liked the scheduling, teaching, and mentorship that lead me to grow in many different ways. At Ochsner Health, we have weekly opportunities to network with other professional in the organization. In this program, we participated in a Tedx talks, career development, and work/life balance discussions. All the these resources made this the most educational experience possible this year.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a different mindset in my internship. I regret not meeting more people and having better discussions with leaders in this organization.

Advice

This experience really shows how successful organizations continue to grow and serve their communities. I would encourage others to take notes on everything and network with as many people as possible to learn from their experiences.
