Office of Congressman Donald Norcross

Congressional Intern

May - August 2021 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I loved being on Capitol Hill and being able to see how the legislative process works. I got to sit in on congressional hearings voting rights and attend briefings about climate change.

What I wish was different

I wish that more events would have been in person but because of covid and restrictions there were limited in person networking events.

Advice

If you are interested in politics or government try to get on the Hill. It is such a life changing experience and is really telling about how much you want to be involved in that world. It really can be a deciding factor for what you want to in your professional career.

Intern

June - August 2017 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I loved the people I was working with - everyone was super friendly and helpful, and took time out of their days to show me something about how the Capitol works

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten to do more long-term projects there.

Advice

Get a part time job on the weekends. It’s unpaid and D.C. is expensive.
