Ohio State ATI - College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences - The Ohio State University

Entomology Summer Intern

May - August 2018 • Wooster, OH

What I liked

I conducted a research project in the honey bee lab at a branch of the Ohio State University. I got to work in the field and in the laboratory, so the work didn't become monotonous. I enjoyed the challenge of coming up with my own research topic and had a lot of independence in conducting my research, but I also really liked my coworkers who were kind and helpful.

What I wish was different

Not much! At the end of the program, all of the interns had to give presentations about their projects. This brought me out of my comfort zone, but I know it was a beneficial experience. In the future, I plan to look for internships that are outside of my hometown to expand my horizons.

I found this job by specifically looking for research internships at the OARDC/ATI. I applied for the summer OARDC Research Internship Program (ORIP) and contacted a faculty member directly after researching which labs interested me most.
