What I liked

I worked with NorthStar's subsidiary, Orion Advisor Services, LLC. What I loved about the entire NorthStar platform was that employees really believed in the company philosophies. I loved working here and I felt valued although I was an intern.

What I wish was different

Advice

Take advantage of opportunities to find out about other teams and what they're doing! Although I worked mostly on the accounting analyst team, I had opportunities to shadow the trading team, HR, billing, performance, and many more, and that, in addition to the work experience, is what truly made this internship valuable. Networking, finding out what I liked, and learning how a company's teams work together to create a big effect.

What I liked

I like learning new technology and understanding the infrastructure of how technology works. Using AWS, Datadog, and Power BI to mix a bit of business knowledge with computer science to understand scalability and cost tracking.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a little more coding and ability to meet and talk to people my age.

Advice

Wonderful managers that will push you to work hard and learn.

What I liked

I liked the atmosphere of the company. Everyone helped and supported one another. They encouraged you to ask questions. Changes were always being made so you were never doing the same thing everyday. There was always free food somewhere. The location was also great because there was a trail to Zorinsky lake you could walk or run on during your break.
