Marketing Communications Intern

May - August 2023 • Lewisville, TX

What I liked

- Inclusive team environment - Opportunity to do real work that will be used by your team - Amazing connections - Growth environment - Many opportunities to succeed - Diverse environment - Supportive Intern meetings - Constantly challenged - Intern Events and connecting opportunities - *Not to mention the best pay and benefits*

What I wish was different

The only thing I would wish had been different would have been more opportunities to work with other interns from close by divisions or facilities. Overall amazing experience and hard to think of something I wish had been different (maybe a larger group of interns?)

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about this experience is to be yourself and really buy into what PACCAR offers. PACCAR realizes as an intern that your coming in with limited knowledge. First learn PACCAR's business, and then understand your teams' goals followed by helping your team with those initiatives with your specific skillset and the things you learn while at PACCAR.

Corporate Accounting Intern

June - September 2022 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

During my time at PACCAR I was able to meet so many people and work collaboratively with my team. I really enjoyed how PACCAR held events like Mariner's games and such for interns and employees to have some time outside of work to get to know each other and get connected.

What I wish was different

There seemed to be a lack of communication in the first days of my experience. There was not enough communication in some parts which left me without a computer or access to all the things needed to start working.

Advice

I really learned that there are no bad questions. Asking my supervisors about all the nuances of their work really helped me understand everything that I was doing. Being proactive early on helped me do better later on in the internship.

Product Marketing Intern

April 2022 • Renton, WA

What I liked

-amazing opportunity for growth and learning -fantastic people and managers -great pay -exciting, cross-functional projects -making an impact in a large company -plant/campus tours (driving a truck!) -intern bonding (Family Fun Center, softball, Mariners' Game, etc.) -benefits (healthcare and stocks) -Community groups --> Diversity Council and Community Giving Committee

What I wish was different

-Training more structured and consistent --> Since I started as a lone intern in the spring, felt like I was pretty useless for the first month or so without any projects/training to complete -More flexibility in business "casual" dress/culture --> Hard to be full authentic self -lacking in diversity (women, people of color, Americans with disabilities, LGBTQ+, etc.) -needs more leadership involvement

Advice

My experience has been a fabulous internship that has lead to the first professional job of my career as a Sales Office Specialist for PACCAR Parts! My advice for other students when going through this internship is to always as questions, and find where you can contribute more.

Exposure to different departments and insights to working in a Fortune 200 company.
