I liked being able to assist a student with behavioral needs attend a summer success program for general education students
What I wish was different
Nothing in particular.
Advice
This assignment was changed at the last minute. When going in to work a summer school program, be prepared to work in whatever is needed; even if it's not in your usual or expected department

What I liked
I love my job because it’s something that’s part of my everyday schedule. I enjoy the part where special needs children come rushing through the gate to give me a big hug. I love being a role model to them, and just helping them succeed in their math, reading, and motor skills.
What I wish was different
Nothing. Working with special education children is so difficult and challenging, however every step of the job is rewarding. It is rewarding because I get the chance to help these children improve on their education.
Advice
You need to be patient. It can take a student to learn one letter / number / object in a month. Or some can be in days or weeks. But once the student learns their objective learning goal, it is the most rewarding feeling ever.
