Panera Bread LLC

Team Lead

May - September 2021 • West Bloomfield Township, MI

What I liked

Everything but my favorite thing was my coworkers. Because of the pandemic, there were fewer workers at the store and we went through a lot together that made us really friendly and I always enjoyed going to work. I also really appreciated how flexible that management was with my schedule and the way that they handled conflicts between customers and employees and between two or more employees.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have gotten paid more. I think with the restaurant being Panera and knowing how much they charge for the food there, one meal was more than my hourly wage and sometimes we served 50+ people in one hour. I think there is no reason why wages shouldn't START at $15/hour and go up from there based on experience, especially for adult-age, full-time employees.

Advice

I would say that everyone should be open-minded about entry-level jobs. Everyone knows that working in a restaurant is difficult, especially given the current circumstances but that does not mean it won't be a good experience that one can learn from.
